The travel leagues are designed for the more advanced, competitive
player who is seeking a challenging practice and game environment to
help advance their skills and game play. Tryouts are held each year
where players are selected on their ability and equal playing time is not
guaranteed.
Travel teams begin at age 9 dependent upon the number of children who register and their skill level. Sometimes more than one team
is formed per age group depending on the number of players trying out
and the level of play. Practices are typically twice a week, maybe more
early in the season, and games are played home and away, within an
approximate 1 hour radius of Montgomerville. Teams usually play between 20-30 games per season including 2-4 tournaments.
It is
recommended that your son/daughter have advanced basketball experience to
play travel and everyone is prepared for the commitment and
expectations that travel requires. There are additional travel registration fees to cover uniforms, referrees and gym time. In addition, you can expect to pay additional fees to cover tournament expenses. A variety of opportunities for tournament play are
also available throughout the season.
Tryouts and practice starts in October. The regular season runs January-February with playoffs in March.
